Cuttoli Cortichiato Heritage Trail Itinerary

Today a place for walks and discoveries, the Cutuli è Curtichjatu Heritage Trail had a different vocation in the past. Since the early Middle Ages, the first part of the route was a mule track that led from the Foci di San Ghjorghju to the Foci di Vizzavona. It served as an axis of communication between Pumonti and Cismonte. This is undoubtedly the route that Samperu Corsu undertook in January 1567 and Boswell, two centuries later. A structuring element of the rural space, it allowed exchanges between communities and villages. It also provided access to the water mills, built on the banks of the Funtanaccia stream, later renamed ‘Fiumi di i mulini’. The traditional dry stone walls that line the path, the steps, the paving, remain as fragile vestiges of the past. Through this path, visitors are invited to go back in time and immerse themselves in the life and memory of a community.
