Fishermen's beach

From the fishermen's beach Cogoleto appears in all its beauty, and in all its essence. Cogoleto is, in fact, a fishing village. Too often this characteristic is taken for granted, without carefully considering what we are referring to. Today, in the modern industrial, or rather post-industrial, society, we see this as a morphological, orographical feature, in short, more related to geography than to people's lives. But for centuries, the sea was not a feature of the landscape, although it was so important for people's quality of life and for tourism. It was, rather, the main occupation. The sea was the 'major undertaking' of Cogoleto at the time. It employed sailors and fishermen and was certainly the town's first employer. That is why it is interesting to visit this beach, to catch a viewpoint so central to the lives of our ancestors. We can do this by looking towards the sea, with that horizon that must have aroused so many hopes and so many fears in them. And we can do so with our eyes turned towards the village, which has been able to draw sustenance and a future from that wealth for centuries, certainly at the cost of enormous sacrifices.
