The factories

Near the Charterhouse of Toirano there are some buildings characterized in their past by a precise historical function. These are the factories connected to the monastic settlement, from which the monastery drew the agro-food resources necessary for its needs and generated some surplus to put on the market. The main activities carried out in these buildings were related to the main classical productions of this land, starting with oil. Obviously these buildings have suffered the same complex fate as the Charterhouse, and therefore have gone through complicated passages between confiscations, transfers, partitions and divisions. These buildings today are in a serious state of neglect, as is the case at the connected Charterhouse, and it is hoped that they will soon be the subject of a restoration project.
