Church and village of Romaggi

The village of Romaggi is situated on the left bank of the Valfontanabuona at an altitude of about 500 metres, in the municipality of San Colombano Certenoli. The territory is rich in chestnut and hazelnut groves, and from this point it can be explored thanks to the large number of paths branching off in all directions. The village retains many ancient rural structures, making it one of the most characteristic examples of the ancient Ligurian rural civilisation. The church of San Michele Arcangelo is particularly worth a visit, whose historical traces go back to the heart of the Middle Ages, even though its present form dates back to the 18th century. To tell the truth, the good state of preservation of the building is also due to the generous donations from wealthy emigrants who did not forget their home town. The interior is a small treasure trove of works of art and exudes a deep sense of spirituality and faith. In particular, at the top, there is a fine old organ.
