Peasant houses of Costa di Villa

Not far from Cervo, visitors can find a very special testimony to a past that is not so distant in time, but a special situation increases its fascination and mystery. On a rise just off the tarmac road, close to a modern, elegant residential area, the remains of an old farming village lie in ruins. It is the village of Costa di Villa, whose remains also testify to a certain grandeur and importance. Above all because of the presence, still visible today, of a beautiful defence tower. From this old square tower the villagers could make and receive signals. Like the bastion, it is also a structure from the period of dangerous raids by barbarian pirates. So much so that this tower was part of the overall defensive organisation of Cervo, the functioning of which was also regulated by local statutes.
