LU33 Museum of Plaster Figurines and Emigration

The ‘Museo della figurina di gesso e dell’emigrazione’ was set up by the Town Council of Coreglia Antelminelli in 1975. The Museum's current exhibition is made up of 1,300 plaster objects which, through their depictions, their colouring and shape and, above all, the way they were made, represent the technical evolution of this craft from 1600 to the present day. Among the most valuable and historically significant objects are: eighteenth-century kittens blackened with candle smoke, the original mask of Count Camillo Benso di Cavour and busts made with lost-wax casts.
