LU20 Church of San Michele Arcangelo - Meati

This church was attached to the canonry of the primicerius of the cathedral church. The first evidence of work on the building indicates the partial restoration of the bell tower during the 16th century. However, this work was probably carried out in the context of the building's unstoppable deterioration, so much so that a century later, when the Visitator discovered its poor condition, he ordered its immediate closure. The report, drawn up during the visit in 1680, describes it as rather large, with a single roofed nave, a door on the façade, surmounted by a small wooden canopy, and two windows.
