LI27 Archaeological Park of the Villa of San Vincenzino X

In a panoramic position, close to the sea at San Vincenzino, the remains of a grandiose Roman Villa of the Imperial Age were found. The excavations of the archaeological site (known since 1700) have enabled the reconstruction of the characteristics of the complex, which enjoyed a long lifespan (first century BCE to the fifth century CE), and whose history can be divided into various phases of construction and succeeding practical modifications. After many years of research, the traditional attribution of the villa to the Consul Albino Cecina has been definitively confirmed in a recent publication, by Doctor Fulvia Donati of the Department of Archaeology of the University of Pisa, entitled: “La Villa Romana di San Vincenzino a Cecina” (“The Roman Villa of San Vincenzino at Cecina”).
