LI26 Cecina Civic Archaeological Museum

With its most recent layout, finished in 2003, the Cecina Civic Archaeological Museum represents a complete and accurate exhibition of the ancient history and archaeology of the Bassa Val di Cecina, from the remote coastal settlements of the Early Paleolithic Era to the final phase of the great Roman villas which, together with their landholdings, occupied the entire surrounding territory. The Museum was born, or to put it more aptly, re-born, because of the wish to enrich the historical awareness of a territory rich with archaeological finds of great value. This valorization is achieved through a profound renewal and invigoration of the cultural resources offered to citizens and especially to young people, which moreover provides added value for tourists and occasional visitors.
