LI25 The Palazzo Bombardieri Civic Archaeological Museum of Rosignano Marittimo

The Palazzo Bombardieri Civic Archaeological Museum is located in the castle (« Rocca ») of Rosignano Marittimo, in the province of Livorno. The municipality’s Civic Museum, opened on 12 June, 1955, took on new life as the Civic Archeological Museum in 1957. It was founded by the Local Archaeological Group to house the collection of Hellenistic tombs discovered in Castiglioncello, and was enlarged with finds from the local territory. In 2016, the Municipality of Rosignano Marittimo inaugurated the new installation of the Museum. Among the innovations: the renewed section on the harbor zone of San Gaetano a Vada, the underwater section with new discoveries, the exhibition of an unprecedented Etruscan shipwreck find, from Calignaia, and two Roman Republican structures from the shoals of Vada.
