LI22 Birthplace of Amedeo Modigliani

The birthplace of Amedeo Modigliani is found in Livorno, in Via Roma number 38. Here, on 12th July 1884, was born the famous Livornese painter, the fourth child of a family belonging to the sizable Jewish community of Livorno. The building is a simple, small three-story mansion of the nineteenth century. The apartment on the first floor, whose interior has been reconstructed with period decorations, preserves documentation of the life of Modigliani (also coming from the Archives Légales of Paris), such as photographs and autograph documents. The exhibition, curated by the Guastalla family, presents the artistic and human story of the great artist, a protagonist of the artistic avant-garde of the early twentieth century.
