LI20 Cultural Centre of the Oil Jars, Museum of the City of Livorno

The Museum of the City of Livorno is a cultural centre situated in Livorno, in the quarter of Venezia Nuova, or “New Venice.” The Museum of the City of Livorno comprises the former church of the Assumption of the Virgin and of Saint Joseph, and the ground floor of the Oil Jars, which are connected to each other by a new body of the building inserted in the open space created after World War II, following the demolition of the complex of the so-called “Pious Houses.” Today only the Contemporary Art section can be visited. The internal space of the Oil Jars, on the other hand, has played host since 2019 to temporary shows and exhibitions.
