LI01 Mediterranean Natural History Museum

The 'Museo di Storia Naturale del Mediterraneo' is located in the former Villa Henderson and covers an area of approximately 12,000 square metres. The exhibition areas, which were renovated in the 1980s by architect Giuseppe Milanesi, are located in the modern building next to the villa. Further extension work has led to the creation of the 'Sala del Mare' (Sea Room) dedicated to Mediterranean cetaceans. The exhibition also includes the Geopalaeontology Room, the Room of Man and Man in the Mediterranean, the Zoology Room, the Invertebrates Room, the Botanical and Ethnobotanical Gardens and the Planetarium. In 2003, the Environmental Education Centre was opened, consisting of a series of laboratories with modern equipment and dedicated to schools of all levels.
