MONACCIA D'AULLENE

This path allows you to discover the rich heritage of the municipality of Munacia d'Auddè. This land still bears the memory of past agricultural activities. Man has shaped it, sculpted it with terraces and paths, erected walls and low walls, sheepfolds and houses, orii and mills... Every resource of its fauna and flora, its stone and soil, was used and exploited. Along the way, there is an old mill that transformed the hard-won grain into flour. The cork oaks, often planted, bear witness to the exploitation of their bark, which was an important part of the local economy in the 19th century. The junipers bear witness to the importance of this rot-proof wood, which was used especially in construction and fencing. The oriu of Cubia and the caves that surround it, occupied since prehistoric times, and listed to this day as the oldest settlement in Corsica, give a glimpse of the exceptional archaeological heritage of the commune. In the same way, the Oriu d'Iddastricciola, which is part of a typical agricultural complex, tells us the importance of the cultivation of cereals, which was at the heart of the preoccupations and conflicts of past centuries.
