Torre Salinas - Muravera

A square three-storey tower, tapered towards the top, which was built around 1650 to defend the Colostrai Salt Works.
Torre Salinas, also called Torre delle Saline (Tower of the Salt pan), is located in the area of Muravera, in the province of South Sardinia, along the east coast of the island. It extends in front of the Salinas lagoon and is overlooked by the tower of the same name which is part of the historic coastal defence system. The tower has a square floor plan that is spread out over three floors and is tapered towards the top. It was built around 1650 to defend the Colostrai Salt Works, owned by the ‘Curatoria dell'Incontrada del Sarrabus’, and to warn people of possible dangers coming from the sea by means of a visual connection with the Torre dei Dieci Cavalli and Capo Ferrato. It was restored in 2003. (image: https://www.traccedisardegna.it/storia-e-cultura/torre-salinas)
