Hydraulic network

The catchment area above Peri, between the Monti Falcunaghja and the ridge line, collects rainwater. The village is thus at the foot of a natural water tower. Moreover, its location between two rivers ensures a continuous water supply for the crops. Irrigation canals, built from the Tassi and Valdu streams, lead the water from the upstream plots to the village lanes and the vegetable gardens below. In the village, the water runs along the alleys, in the open air, and is used for various purposes. Canals collect the rainwater, preventing the degradation of the alleys and protecting the houses from flooding. The water then joins the streams at the bottom of the valley and flows into A Gravona. These canals allow us to understand the logic of the organisation of the village and its surroundings: washhouses, gardens, cultivation terraces.
