LI05 Padule di Bolgheri Wildlife Refuge

In the heart of the Alta Maremma lies one of the most enchanting and important protected natural areas in Tuscany and Italy: the Padule di Bolgheri Wildlife Refuge, where you can enjoy an unforgettable experience surrounded by nature, in the company of fallow deer, storks and other wonderful species. The Refuge was created in 1959 by Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta - one of the founding fathers of the WWF - who decided to transform an area of the family property, populated by water birds, into a private wildlife refuge that still retains its original beauty. Thus, in 1967, this magical place became a WWF-affiliated refuge.
