This church was built in 1916 thanks to Count Gregori's charitable donations to serve as a parish for the new neighbourhoods at the northern end of Bastia.

This church was completed in 1916 and consecrated on 4th March 1917 by Bishop Simeone, bishop of Ajaccio. It was built in a style inspired by a Gothic Revival style, to serve as a parish for the new neighbourhoods at the northern end of Bastia. It was built thanks to the generosity of Count Sébastien Gregori, a rich banker from Bastia. The church was the work of architect Jules Barbier, the construction manager of the archbishopric of Paris and the architect who designed Sainte-Marie-des-Fontenelles church in Nanterre. After it had been severely damaged by the bombings of 21st and 22nd of September 1943, the church was restored and dedicated on 30th June 1946. The building houses some remarkable works of art created by artists from Bastia: a bas-relief sculpture of the Stations of the Cross by Jean-Mathieu Peckle (1868-1956), which dates back to 1916 and two oil on canvas paintings by Hortense de Luri-Flach (1841-1930): a Madonna and Child and an Assumption of the Virgin Mary. The oldest work of art on display is a painting from the Italian School which belonged to Cardinal Fesch, Napoleon Bonaparte’s maternal uncle. This painting portrays the Mocking of Christ and is on loan from the City Museum of Bastia.
